New Year New opportunities

Wishing all of my readers a Happy, Successful, and Prosperous New Year filled with healthy concepts, and that you be surrounded by beauty and fashion!💫

This year for me will be a year of taking chances in the world of beauty and beyond! Staying optimistic and having confidence with every endeavor.

Wholistic approaches surrounding beauty and fashion is important to me so I will be adding stories associated with beauty and fitness.

Last year I reinvented myself with healthy concepts through making healthier food choices, fitness approaches through strength training and running. I found it to be very exhilarating!

I my world of fitness and beauty, they all go hand to hand. If you feel good, you look good, if you are focused and positive which in turn can attract positive things your way.

In this post I will share various activities, events, networking along with other areas of involving yourself in environments conducive to happiness and connectivity with others.

This is an enjoyable treat for me because I can share what’s going on in my world of beauty with others through writing and photography.

You must stay abreast of new trends and current happening in the beauty industry. It keeps you alert and fashion/ beauty forward.

Joining a virtual running club or starting attainable fitness goals

Last spring I delved into the world of distance running. I started by getting in races that were perhaps one or 2 mile walks… then they lead to 5K runs and more! I am definitely hooked on running! The Finishers Medals are not bad either.

Sell jewelry or discover an entrepreneurial endeavor

I have been in the beauty industry’s for over 35+ years and there is always something new to explore and discover. With beauty it is from head to toe. It would only be suiting to connect Hair, skincare, makeup, nails, fashion, and jewelry accessories together… this is how the total look is achieved. Last Fall I stumbled upon the world of Paparazzi Accessories and I am now an Independent Consultant. I have just shared my link.

Travel and enjoy the beauty around you

One of my attainable goals is to travel to different states and run an actual race or a virtual race and take pictures of the beautiful scenic views.

Spending time with family and friends

Mario Tricoci presents Defining the perfect 10 Fashion Show Competiton

Such an exciting evening Mario Tricoci’ s annual modeling competition, Mario Make Me a Model. I have had the privilege to cover this event for 10 years. Thursday October 24th, the Final 5 modeling contestants (Sarah, Skyler, Amanda, Richard, and Anna) strutted their stuff on the runway with other local models. This Year was special because Mario Tricoci Make Me A Model celebrated his 10th year anniversary. The theme for this year’s show is the Defining the Perfect 10💫.

The 5 local Designers that furnished the Finale wardrobe was provided Bloomingdale’s Old Orchard and Ann Everett. Syl Markt, J. Toor, Model Atelier, and Azzeza, Additional contributors were Motion Graphics by Motion Post/Jeff Everson; Nancy Reid; Violinist -Adrianne Urban; Amy Olson and Lisa Marie McComb; Abby Dunn; Sarah Stec; Becca Peters; and Norman Ibarra.

Artists mingled at The Revel Fulton Market this past weekend to stock their kits with the best in beauty from over 75 beauty brands.

CHICAGO, IL (October 13 & 14 2018) – The Makeup Show Chicago, which took place this past weekend on October 13th and 14th at The Revel Fulton Market, proved once again that it is the leading pro-event in the world.

Professional artists, press, influencers, and brand executives joined together for a weekend full of new debuts and trending products from brands such as Dr. Brandt Skincare, Smashbox Cosmetics, Mehron, Mario Badescu Skincare, Danessa Myricks Beauty, Cozzette Cosmetics…and many more!

In addition to this, guests shopped exclusive deals from over 75 beauty brands, attended a variety of hands-on workshops, and also had the opportunity to interact one-on-one with some of today’s leading celebrity artists such as Damone Roberts, Jordan Liberty, and Yolonda Frederick-Thompson!

This years, Shelly Taggar, owner of The Makeup Show, and James Vincent, the show’s Director of Education and Artist Relations, walked the show floor to see what the pros were buying, what was flying off the shelves, and what was trending amongst brands.

I always feel privileged to be invited to the Press event to see celebrity makeup artist James Vincent as he dives deeper into the 2018 beauty trends, inspirations, and aesthetics that have taken the beauty world by storm.  Not to mention the extraordinary Goodie Bag of Amazing cosmetics, implements, and or beauty tools.

The Makeup Show Chicago Trend Report was presented by James Vincent, Director of Education & Artist Relations for The Makeup Show.

Here are the details of the hot trends for the Fall season.

TREND #1: In Your Own Skin

Natural Skin is a must have for the fall months. Look to the Red Carpet, runway or your favorite fashion magazines and you will see models and celebrities wearing makeup that is barely there featuring a soft matte finish. A sheerer coverage complexion with strategic warmth and shine is flattering for any face. Chose a long wear or waterproof option for optimum fall wear. A few of our favorites are Marc Jacobs Beauty Shameless Foundation and MAKE UP FOR EVER Waterblend. For additional hold and perspiration control, try Alcone or Mehron anti shine and sweat products as a primer. The pros swear by them to keep clients looking cool in the most intense heat.

TREND #2:  Bright Eyed Wonder 

Bold, beautiful pops of color were the perfect addition to fall and resort runways this season. As all over eyeshadow, a bold swipe of eyeliner or a bit of brightly colored mascara are a few ways to take the trend to your everyday. Try Danessa Myricks ColorFix for a long wear pro favorite that can be used as cream shadow, liner, mascara or lip. Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliners add a touch of bright color with a simple application. Colored Mascara from Kryolan is an excellent pro classic available in his from bright neons to bold jewel tones and take just a minimal amount of makeup skill.

TREND #3: Graphic Designs

Neo Graphic Liner is an easy fall choice. Pair a bold black liner with any lip from barely there to a daring red and it will always work.

Traditional cat eyes are a bit blockier this season or try a sexy, smudgy cat eye for an unforgettable modern look. Stila Microtip Stay All Day Eyeliner allows you to create any shape effortlessly. Stillazzi Borderline Intense Gel Eyeliner is quickly becoming a pro favorite that’s easy to apply, featuring  a super durable formula that looks fantastic from day to late night.

TREND # 4: Glitterati

Glitter is never going away. This fall we are seeing easy glitter looks along the eyelid as liner or shadow. Try Mehron’s new Echo Pressed Glitter Palette for a no mess, easy option that works well on it’s own or over shadow. Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow has a large variety of beautiful fall shades that apply with one swipe. For a more ethereal glitter experience, look to Danessa Myricks Beauty, Kryolan or MAKE UP FOR EVER for the most magnificent glitter makeup options.

TREND #5: Smoke Screen 

The smoky eye never fails to make a return for fall. This season we see an eye that uses texture for impacts as well as color. Combine different formulas for off the runway, editorial looks that work well for every day. MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Pencils are the perfect base for smudgy, sexy lines. Layer on a gel liner like Stillazi or a cream product like Danessa Myricks Colorfix for added drama. Finish with your favorite shimmer shadow like Cozzette metallics in a rich, blue tone and you have an easy and unforgettable smoky eye that is seasonal as well as sensational.

I consider these Press sessions as a platform to keep professionals abreast of New beauty cosmetics, trends and to establish relationships with the brands highlighted at the Makeup Show. The Makeup Show Chicago: DECADENCE Have a Ball Fashion Show

This must-see event brought some of the best makeup artists and brands together in the heart of Chicago!

The Makeup Show hosted its highly anticipated DECADENCE Have a Ball Fashion Show event in Chicago, IL on Friday, October 12th for VIP’s, press and beauty brands. At the event, brands such as MAKE UP FOR EVER, Makeup Atelier Paris, Alcone Company, Melanie Mills Hollywood, and Make Up First School of Makeup Artistry rivaled against each other to show their best interpretation and inspiration through drag, dance, street, diva, glitter and voguing.

DECADENCE Have a Ball Fashion Show celebrated drag in all its incarnations through makeup, fashion, and performance on the runway.

Thinking “Big” and wigs piled sky high, Studio 54 faces, elegant extravaganza, color couture, blood and glitter, mopped makeup, up-and-coming legends and more.

Guests were able to sip on cocktails, mingle with artists and enjoy live entertainment of the fashion show.

Not only did this event hold some of the best local makeup artists in Chicago but participating brands were available showing their skills to steal the title by taking makeup and styling to extraordinary creative places.

This must see event let Drag Queens and Kings take the runway, work their extraordinary looks. Attendees saw a divine and decadent celebration. It was well received💫 Stupendous talent on display here!

The Makeup Show Chicago Fashion Show Event was held on Friday, October 12th, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM located in the lobby area at the Revel Fulton Market, 1215 W Fulton Market.

How I made up my face: A morning guide to beauty

I always start off with a clean and moisturized face. Then I began to add to my canvas as that of a work of art. Using an array of various cosmetics, I achieve the look that I am striving for. Blending is always an important aspect to good coverage and a flawless look. I started achieving my look with:

• Applying Laura Mercier’s Foundation Primer first, allows for better coverage of the foundation and other products to follow.

•L.A. Girl PRO. Conceal HD Concealer, I used this sparingly after the primer uneven color on the face.

• My choice for foundation is Maybelline New York DREAM Nude Airfoam in Cocoa-370. I love this product it blends well and evenly into the skin.

• The next cosmetics used was L.A. Colors Mineral Pressed Powder, this sets the makeup and allows to apply shadowing and contouring.

•Ciate’ London Olivia Palermona (Smoked out)- Gel Kohl liner was used for my problem brows to fill them in.

•Ardell Professional Wispies Baby Demi. I love these lashes, they look so natural produces a nice subtle day look.

•abracadabra waterproof mascara is used on the bottom and top lashes adding the mascara makes the eyes pop.

•deVine Lip Shine, I use this as a outline to lips prior to apply the matte liquefying lip color to avoid the drying affect around the lip IZME New York Matte Lip Color (Athena)

Now for the finished look.

I love going to local beauty supply stores. It allows you to explore various beauty products that you want to try before investing in larger quantities. There are many brands that may be well known or it familiar.

Radiant Liquid Eye Shadow ~ Galatic Blue

I always frequent beauty supply stores to purchase beauty good and to stay abreast to new items targeted to the Retail Consumer.

Well, in this particular incident I saw a display near the checkout register. I did not know anything about the product or brand, so I just grabbed a favor shade to try it out. The cost was $1.99, so I thought if I like it I will buy all of the shades on display. I tried the Radiant Liquid Eyeshadow and simply loved it!!!

The reasons why I loved it was the brush applicator, the concept, the ease with applying, along with the creativity of the application, like that of nail polish, but for the eyes. I will definitely be using this in my home makeup studio for creative photo shoot sessions and other aspects of makeup artistry.

I took a simple day look and added a gentle touch of Radiant Liquid and there you have it. The look can be enhanced simply by adding more liquid over the eyelid.
